FORMATIVE STUDY

ThyroidSupport

A patient-facing clinical decision support application — desktop and mobile — for pregnant women already taking levothyroxine, including after thyroidectomy for benign disease. It translates the thyroid-in-pregnancy guideline corpus into computable, trimester-aware dose suggestions. Every output is positioned as a suggestion pending the supervising physician's approval. CE-grade target.

ThyroidSupport pregnancy edition · Step 1 of 8 of the patient-data wizard, in Greek — sliders for gestational week, weight, and age, with a progress bar showing 12% complete and Previous / Next navigation buttons.

ThyroidSupport `{pregnancy.edition}` · the first step of the patient-data wizard (gestational week · weight · age), Greek UI. No patient identifiers; sample values shown.

Protocol summary

ThyroidSupport {pregnancy.edition} is a patient-facing application — runs in the browser on desktop and on mobile — that translates the thyroid-in-pregnancy guideline corpus into computable, trimester-aware dose suggestions for the patient and her care team. It is not a self-care tool: every output is presented as a suggestion that requires the supervising physician's explicit approval before acting. CE-grade is the regulatory target.

Who it is for. Pregnant women already taking levothyroxine, including after total or near-total thyroidectomy for benign disease. Treatment-naive patients, and patients after lobectomy or surgery for thyroid cancer, are outside its scope; the application asks about treatment and surgery first and ends there for anyone out of scope.

Inputs are the current levothyroxine treatment, thyroid-surgery history, gestational age and TSH.

The application is registered on the Open Science Framework (OSF, DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/6SKZ2) and the protocol has been approved by the Scientific Council of the 424 General Military Hospital of Thessaloniki (see Ethics & governance, opposite).

Where we are

Formative usability studies are open. The current readout is qualitative — clinician fit, patient comprehension, surfacing of the right alerts at the right moment, time-on-task — alongside quantitative concordance with the underlying guideline.

A public protocol and interim-results paper is targeted for Q1 2027. The sibling edition for fertility intake is documented at ThyroidSupport {preconception.edition}.
